Rick Botley studied Computer Science before beginning his career in oil freight trading, building a foundation in both technical systems and commercial execution.

He spent more than 15 years at Shell Trading and later 3 years at Navig8, working across freight, shipping, market structure, and decision-making in complex international markets.

Volcrest Capital reflects that combination of backgrounds. The work now centres on LLM systems, containerised services, automation, and software that can be deployed across local machines and cloud environments.
